Why am I depressed after my face lift?

Depression and Cosmetic Surgery

It is not uncommon for patients to experience mild depression after cosmetic surgery. Knowing what to expect after your surgery is the best way to combat depression. Procedures that may involve radical changes to your appearance, such as face lift surgery, can carry with them a more difficult recovery period, both physically and emotionally.

Talk with your surgeon about what you can realistically expect once your surgery is complete. Keep in mind that everyone experiences at least some bruising and swelling at the incision and/or injection sites. Final results of your surgery may not be evident until weeks or even months after your procedure.
